1943 Canvas case navigation type A4

Hi from France

My latest find (directly from Normandy) ... could anyone help me to confirm it's a case navigation type A4 ?

Nota : it's 1943 dated inside

Dunno. Such descriptions as "directly from Normandy" are typically a negative connotation. I have an A-4 or two but I have never seen a canvas one.

Can you show us the other markings, dates, etc,?

Hi Dave

We still find things in Normandy and original pieces. Not everything is false.
Here, when I say "directly frome Normandy" it’s because I found it last Saturday at a militaria show organized at CARENTAN (Normandy). I should have made that clear from the beginning.

 

I’m not going to invent a beautiful story. I do not know any more about its exact origin.

 

As for the complementary photos, I will post them as soon as possible.

dig the redskin B2...the case is intruiging....looks like GI hardware and stamp...maybe for field use versus Air Corps?...

Yeah, love the cap. Covid cancelled our 2020 trip to Normandy. We were really looking forward to enjoying the area. Was not planning on hunting for militaria while there.

A-4 cases were made post war as well and the nomenclature is a bit different. Is there more info than a date inside?

I wonder if IR settings on a digital camera would help. I know someone on this forum had mastered that and it really revealed faded ink.

I have never seen one like this.
