patches Posted June 5, 2021 Share #1 Posted June 5, 2021 Interesting 70s portrait of a Green Beret I'm imagining 70s at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center, what are those DIs he's got on, also note he's not wearing the Special Warfare Center DI on his Flash either just the Special Forces DI, but as we see the DIs on the shoulder loops are not the SF ones, but are for a different unit. He also for that matter is not wearing his jump wings on the Special Warfare Center Oval either. The Duly Authorized DI is of course this one. Of course the question is, is he in this unit as it was known back then, the 101st Aviation Battalion is he wearing the beret as a personal thing, for whatever reason??? or was elements of the 101st Aviation Battalion attached to the JFK SWC?? If so still doesn't explain why the standard SF DI on the Flash nor an Oval (If he was in the 101, the ovals are worn by personnel who are Air Assault Qualified Only, the Air Assault Badge being worn.)
