Just picked this up. I’ve stripped her down and to my knowledge everything is correct for S.G. I believe it to be possibly as issued

And I know you can’t tell much from the pics but I just had to share!

I agree, it appears to be a straight as issued carbine...Does it have a high wood stock?....Bodes

It’s a low wood. I believe it’s a March of 44 production.

Looks like a nice one. Mag catch looks like it has been replaced with a Type III at some point, I think it should have a IIA, no?

I’ll have to search that one more. It’s marked S.G. With an M on the face

It could be correct depending on serial block, I don't have my books handy at the moment - just going from memory. 🙂

It was produced during their last run I do believe. It’s a 5.8 mil

I wasn't sure what the cutoff time was for the high wood, just curious if the stock too had this early feature....Nice rifle...Congrats, Bodes

I can’t say for sure either as I too don’t have my books handy. But a couple other 44 productions in my collection are low woods.

Thanks man. Just can’t get enough of them. I think I got it for a decent price too.

Nice carbine. I thought my safety may have been replaced as it is a light color while the other parts have darker varying shades but it looks just like yours.

So many parts were made by so many contractors. I expect to see variations of color. IMO, wear patterns can be more important as long as the finish is period

Wow... nice find! Judging from the photos it must not have cost you an arm and a leg... maybe just an arm as we can't see the right one. Then again, it's likely holding the camera. ;-)

I paid 1700!

A beautiful carbine in any case.  With current ammo prices, it's getting more and more pricey to shoot (if it's a shooter).

I fired it once. Probably won’t again.

Very nice carbine. They are a blast to shoot. Yours is a desirable maker too. Congrats.

Yeah I didn’t expect to get this one like I did. Only 5 more makers to go!
