Dirk Posted May 31, 2021 #1 Posted May 31, 2021 Had bought the larger one from a forum member several years ago and was surprised to find it also came in a smaller version recently. I imagine given the weight of the larger frame it took up a lot of room in a seabag. Btw these are not sterling silver, but just finished to look that way
themick Posted May 31, 2021 #3 Posted May 31, 2021 Really outstanding, Dirk!! Thanks for sharing them with us. Steve
Brig Posted May 31, 2021 #6 Posted May 31, 2021 Beautiful pieces...and the seated portrait is not too shabby, either
Dirk Posted May 31, 2021 Author #7 Posted May 31, 2021 Thanks guys! Always amazed at how much Shanghai, Peking, and Tientsin tailored their products to sell to the Marines. Agree Brig...cool pix, but is it an officer or NCO? It is clearly earlier then the frame
Brig Posted May 31, 2021 #9 Posted May 31, 2021 NCO...that's an NCO sword and a P1908 cap emblem, plus no collars
Brig Posted June 1, 2021 #11 Posted June 1, 2021 Did they wear them in dress whites? I see no sign of an officer rank on the shoulders, either. I'm pretty certain he's enlisted. Worse case maybe he was a private just posing with a buddy's sword for the look of the portrait
Dirk Posted June 1, 2021 Author #12 Posted June 1, 2021 Brig I thought the enlisted wore whites until 1912....logic dictates he is enlisted but IDK
