These are quite famous among the Gettysburg collectors because they were popular in the years after the battle. Good and Woodward used items from the battlefield to construct these, and then sold them to tourists. In modern times, they command a premium when found, and are instantly recognized.

Very interesting, I have owned a number of them but never with the "Valley of Death" motto.
