BlueRidgeMtns Posted May 22, 2021 #1 Posted May 22, 2021 I’ve included photographs of an 80th Division grouping (helmet and tunic) and two stand-alone 80th Division helmets. Each helmet is named. It’s puzzling when according to published media the gunsight painting is attributed to artillery regiments. These three are attributed to men who served with the 313th Machine Gun Battalion. According to their histories, neither of them served in the artillery. I’ve read “Good War, Great Men” by Andrew J. Capets and nowhere does it mention the 313th being detached and assigned to an artillery regiment.
