WWI Clip-On Pin Mechanism Question

Recommended Posts

I recently picked up this service pin which is missing its clip mechanism. Does anyone have a similar pin, or a pin with a similar mechanism? I'd like to get this one repaired if I can, but I don't know what it's supposed to have. I imagine it is missing a piece with teeth that functions as an opposing jaw, and then some kind of spring or tensioner. I'd appreciate any help or ideas. Thank you!

I've never seen one of those before, but I think you're right. The missing pieces are the other half of the "jaw" and a small spring (the kind with two little projections that will keep pressure on each part of the jaw). You might be able to take it to a jeweler to fabricate the small missing jaw part, and they might have some small springs handy. Good luck!
