bldrhouse Posted May 17, 2021 Share #1 Posted May 17, 2021 I have this ammunition in my collection, which I bought as JAPANESE 6.5mm HOTCHKISS MACHINE GUN AMMO Strip and headstamps: now I see this, and wondering if there is a nomenclature error in one or there are two calibers that seem so similar but are different? But, to answer your question, the Japanese in WW II had both 6.5mm machine guns and 7.7 mm machine guns using the stripper clips you show. Notice how the projectile on the 6.5mm ammo is longer.
