CandaceStonestreet86 Posted May 11, 2021 Share #1 Posted May 11, 2021 Ok, this was a booger to get out of the cover, the snaps were corroded and just was not having it....so I put a lil oil in the socket...might have got a lil on the canvas, but here it is over a 100 years old
Pep Posted May 11, 2021 Share #2 Posted May 11, 2021 Nice job getting the snaps apart without ripping the fabric. Good solid 106 year old cover. Does it still have the double hook on the back?
CandaceStonestreet86 Posted May 11, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted May 11, 2021 Yup, a lil torn at top but ok
doyler Posted May 11, 2021 Share #4 Posted May 11, 2021 I have seen the snaps pull through the fabric on several of these old covers. In the past if I have a snap on a holster or web item thats a bit stuck I will use a flat table knife or a thin letter opener to gently slide under the snap and coax it open and not pull on the material. I will then use a bit of wax or even a coating of chap stick applied with a q-tip to lubricate the snap and stud or a post.
CandaceStonestreet86 Posted May 11, 2021 Author Share #5 Posted May 11, 2021 I put a lil bees wax on the ball part of the buttons so hopefully that'll keep it from seizing up like it did, it will now be placed on a shelf where I probably won't touch it again.
