befleury27 Posted May 5, 2021 Share #1 Posted May 5, 2021 I inherited this helmet from my grand father, he served in WWII and the Korean War. I do not see any marking on it so there was not so much for me to go by in finding out what kind of helmet it is. Any help in identifying it would be greatly appreciated. huntssurplus Posted May 25, 2021 Share #2 Posted May 25, 2021 M1 Helmet, black painted hardware on the chinstrap makes it post-korean war. Most likely 1960's era. looks to be mint, likely never saw any action/military service besides sitting in a warehouse. It was common for M1 Helmets to be sold as surplus and mail ordered, i'm guessing that is how your grandfather acquired it.
stratasfan Posted June 7, 2021 Share #3 Posted June 7, 2021 Since this has been ID'd, I've moved this to the helmet board for further discussion!
Justin Posted June 7, 2021 Share #4 Posted June 7, 2021 Check under the brim with a flashlight, looks like a standard Ingersoll shell.
