a sad, very sad LPU..I think it is a 21/P ..

all components are dated 1972

must have been used in salt water training, the JPK fell out of the sheath in a pile of dust/rust

the pencil flare was corroded, flares look to be ok..

and the two large flares in the side pouch look ok

the SRU-31 are dated 72 and look ok

main zipper pull is misssing...actually there was a small block of something that looked to be the remains of the pull..

having said all that..the body is dirty, but should clean up

still has the mirror, whistle, dye markers, survival kits, and a small strip of fabric with elastic sewn in loops ...looks to hold .22 ammo?

no radio.

That poor thing.  That is a non ejection seat use (most likely helo use) SV-2 survival vest since it has the extraction belt installed at the chest.  That early I don't think it is a LPU-21.  Does it have the pull toggles like a LPU-10 at the bottom front of the left and right sides or is there a snap on multiple beaded pull handles on each side?  I'm gonna say probably toggles and it would probably be a LPA-2.  The ink stamped label is usually on the body side at the bottom of the belt area on these I believe.   I have one myself but its put away right now otherwise Id tell you exactly where to look for markings.  I know mine was a 1970 contract date.

That sewn loop strip is the bandoleer that was for .38 ammo, the elastic webbing probably shrunk over the years from that poor storage and the damage it has etc.

Thanks Mohawk...it has the pull toggle not the bead handle for the inflator

Found a cool wrist compass in the kit..still in sealed plastic bag...asprin, gum ..coffee...typical stuff...but the compass is cool

If its a Nomex casing its a latter variant (21p)

The LPA 2 was made pre Nomex and has the earlier (and a little lighter in color) Sage green Nylon casing

aka "parapack" cloth within the Sport Skydiving community.
