3A1 Posted April 27, 2021 Share #1 Posted April 27, 2021 I was hoping the collective knowledge base could help me identify a couple of crests: When I saw the first one I thought, "wow, must belong to a news organization". The motto on the scroll reads "The Bull & Bias". There are no visible hallmarks. It is 29mm x 26mm with a pin back. I can't find the motto in any of my reference materials so I'm inclined to believe it is not a military device. Anyone have any thoughts? The second one is GEMSCO marked, pin backed, measuring 29mm x 22mm. It features a silver dome-like symbol and two puttee crosses in a canton. I have checked the ASMIC charge list looking for blue crosses because I don't know how to describe the dome. My son says it looks like an "Easy Button" from the old Staples commercials. It's identity eludes me. Thanks, Tony
rlyoun3910 Posted April 27, 2021 Share #2 Posted April 27, 2021 the bottom crest, with blue field, is the 63rd Infantry Regiment 6th Infantry Division v1, it is missing the sun rise, which was 3D on WW II versions. the bare metal was to afix the sun piece. 3A1 Posted April 27, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted April 27, 2021 Thank you. I don't see any residue from an adhesive. Probably flaked off over time or stayed with the missing sun. Appreciate the response.
patches Posted May 7, 2021 Share #4 Posted May 7, 2021 DI for the 63rd Infantry, approved in 29 June 1951. BUT there was at least an earlier Unauthorized version, Made in Japan or in Korea, more like Japan, this when the 63rd Infantry (It was in the 6th Infantry Division) was on occupation duty in Korea right after the war ended.
