phantomfixer Posted April 22, 2021 Share #1 Posted April 22, 2021 I am thinking this is a WWII produced M4...so please chime in on the age.... This M4 was total orange rust covered when found, the bayonet and scabbard were left in a rusty tool box filled with water and then dried out... the leather discs had a few that were cracked in half and a few halves were missing or falling out...those I used JB welded to keep them in place and filled the voids to preserve the others... don't hate me for using JB Weld, but I wanted to keep the original leather handle, as it is 98% intact It cleaned up ok the lock mechanism operates freely a storage shed find along with a M8 flare gun, which is in much better condition

mikedon Posted April 22, 2021 Share #4 Posted April 22, 2021 It is late WWII with the Hemphill Products latch plate.
Misfit 45 Posted April 22, 2021 Share #5 Posted April 22, 2021 Midedon is right. The Imperial M4 with the Hemphill shield on the latchplate is a little harder to find. The M8A1 scabbard was made during WWII and looks to be in good shape. Good save. Marv
