I have a chance to buy this but wanted opinions first - Thing that concerns me is the belt leather looks fuzzy to me - maybe my old eyes are seeing things?

I’m not knowledgeable enough to really give an opinion on originality for this belt but IMHO it looks really nice! I need to look it up but does buff leather indicate an early war made belt? I hope your able to purchase it and enjoy it in your collection!

I think it's real. I have never seen a reproduction of Civil War leather gear in buff leather. There was a run of good repro M1851 sword belt plates with applied wreath, but they were stamped "F.B. & Co." (Frank Burgess & Company)

I see the keeper has a bench number stamped into it. The buckle should have the same number stamped into the back to make it a matched set . Buckle and belt look good to me.
