WWIIBuff1945 Posted April 21, 2021 Share #1 Posted April 21, 2021 I recently acquired this interesting VC crudely made copy of a 1911. It was captured by a soldier of the 25th Division 2nd Battalion 49th Infantry regiment on May, 29 1967. No associated paperwork came with it. Photos courtesy of (Trainmaker 1 on GB). Looks like some battle damage near the magazine well. Here are two interesting articles on these type of weapons: https://www.tactical-life.com/firearms/viet-cong-weaponry-14-vietnam-war/ https://www.smallarmsreview.com/display.article.cfm?idarticles=2231

P-59A Posted April 21, 2021 Share #6 Posted April 21, 2021 I am tacking this on as related info. It's a WW2 .45 ammo can made under contract in Formosa for the Chinese fighting the Japanese during WW2. The Chinese supplied the NVA this ammo during the Vietnam war. This was a vet bring back and is the only one I have seen. The vet used it to store papers.

Tom Kibler Posted June 7, 2021 Share #10 Posted June 7, 2021 I too posted a captured “jungle-made” 1911. They are unique & deadly works of art. The vet actually wore it for part of his tour.
