Old Sarge Posted April 19, 2021 Share #1 Posted April 19, 2021 I found this picture of my Grandfather (He is the soldier in the middle) in a group of old pictures, hanging on the wall of his old National Guard Armory. I was trying to figure out what the pouch is on the right side of his cartridge belt. You can make out one side of it. The Master Sergeant is wearing one like it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. MSG

Rhscott Posted April 22, 2021 Share #6 Posted April 22, 2021 Or a compass in a first aid pouch.
ScottG Posted April 22, 2021 Share #7 Posted April 22, 2021 Since the bandage/first aid is on the left and since he is an NCO I would lean towards compass. Scott
doyler Posted April 22, 2021 Share #8 Posted April 22, 2021 I would agee a compass pouch. Possibly the post WW2 pattern like this:
pwcosol Posted November 11, 2022 Share #9 Posted November 11, 2022 Stumbled into this post so thought to add something to it. Found the pictured pouch at my swap meet some time ago. It is of dark green webbing and is marked on the reverse side: COMPASS, MAGNETIC, LENSTATIC FSN (+ hard to discern numbers) MIL 0?0??OD 8 DEC 1952 (maybe 1962) UNION INSTRUMENTS CORP. DA-11-1?? (+ 8-10 more numbers I can't discern) A circular/rectangular impression on the reverse seems to indicate a lenstatic pattern was carried in it for a time.
