Interesting WW2 Canteen cover with straps?

Found this the other day in a pile of MOLLE pouches at the local surplus store and the straps caught my eye. Never seen those before and can't find any markings other the the "lift the dot" on the snaps, also find the pocket on the Inside interesting. Any help is appreciated!!

The straps and hardware on the back remind me of British/Commonwealth equipment. Not US issued but was probably designed to fit a US metal canteen.

Hi,  it's post WWII Danish army a design combining American and British features . . . . . . . as most European armies post WWII bought up American and British surplus and also made their own equipment to be used with the surplus they bought.
