Sears saddlery company M3 holster

So I have 2 holsters look identical from 1943. The first has a strap 24-25 inchesand 3 holes, the other is a foot longer at about 36 inches with 12 holes. I don’t know how you could wear the first one over the shoulder. Anyone seen one like that short? Could it be a first article made, or maybe someone stitched a new strap in because the other broke?
