Boy Howdy Posted April 9, 2021 Share #1 Posted April 9, 2021 I just picked up these two scabbards off the bay. The one on the left is obviously authentic. The one on the right I am questioning. There are no markings what so ever. I have seen this scabbard for sale as a "COLT" scabbard.(?) I want to run this by some folks more in the know than I am. Any information, positive or negative, is greatly appreciated.
Boy Howdy Posted April 9, 2021 Author Share #2 Posted April 9, 2021 If any or you Forum-6 Actual's think this should be in the edged weapon forum please feel free to move it. Thank you
Misfit 45 Posted April 12, 2021 Share #3 Posted April 12, 2021 I honestly think that the scabbard in question has no colt affiliation whatsoever. It may have been used for one of the Eickhorn Colt M7 bayonets, but nothing U.S.. It looks foreign made. Marv
Boy Howdy Posted April 12, 2021 Author Share #4 Posted April 12, 2021 I have to agree with you on that, Marv. They are still not in hand but when they are maybe some marking(s) will be found.
SKIPH Posted April 12, 2021 Share #5 Posted April 12, 2021 Agree that it could be an Eickhorn, or even a newer Chinese copy. Check the inside of the throat, and see if it is a weird bright colored green, plus the metal is painted black, not parkerized. The couple of Eickhorn M8A1s I own have a different look and textured finish than what is pictured. SKIP
Boy Howdy Posted April 12, 2021 Author Share #6 Posted April 12, 2021 Thanks Skip. I'll take a look when they arrive. Seth
Slufstuff Posted April 12, 2021 Share #7 Posted April 12, 2021 IMO the one on the right is a Chinese replica. Looks like the typical shiny plastic body and sketchy webbing, plus black painted unmarked metal. It is most likely one of the early repros they brought in 20 or so years ago before they started adding faux US markings.
