Came in second on an auction years ago and it suddenly popped up earlier this year when the buyer needed immediate cash.

My buddy Marty has about 7 to 8 dozen Hawaiian Division/Department athletic patches in his holdings with several being in pennant format while others were clearly for athletic sweaters, tank tops, boxers, etc... others were presentation awards and had shield shapes typically incorporating the posts name, Honolulu and or Hawaii.
Salvage Sailor Posted April 7, 2021 #10 Posted April 7, 2021 Very nice collection of interwar Hawaiian Division insignia

tredhed2 Posted April 21, 2021 Author #13 Posted April 21, 2021 The units assigned to 7th Mechanized Brigade - the forerunner of all the armored divisions in WW 2 and later - all had their own patches. Here are a couple. Note - the 1s Cav Regt patch w/ the red "1" is the ONLY way they were made. If you see one w/ not only a different style but a black "1", it's made for collectors. The so-called "zig-zag weave" (embr) of the 47th Engr Troop (Mech) is the only way these patches were made - not embr to wool like the 1st Cav Regt. The zig-zag weaves exist for the 5ht Med Troop (Mech), 5th QM Co (Mech) and 19th Ord Troop, The 4th and 5th were only made in the zig-zag style.
rtd_sf_eng Posted April 22, 2021 #14 Posted April 22, 2021 Here is my contrubution for this thread. Mine is the 8th Engineer Squadron, 1st Cav Div; 328th Engineer Regt, 103rd Inf Div; and a jacket patch for th 2nd Engineer Regt, Company A.
tredhed2 Posted April 23, 2021 Author #15 Posted April 23, 2021 Here's one for you - 2nd Engr Bn 1930s. Came out of an antique store near Ft. Logan, CO.
Proud Kraut Posted April 23, 2021 #16 Posted April 23, 2021 Here´s my contribution. Unfortunately I forgot which 1st Cav Div Artillery unit the patch far right represents.
tredhed2 Posted April 24, 2021 Author #17 Posted April 24, 2021 Jan-Mar 2021 Trading Post - 82nd FA Bn
Proud Kraut Posted April 24, 2021 #18 Posted April 24, 2021 Thank you, I missed that. (off topic: one of the advantages of ASMIC online membership. I have access to the Trading Post even if I´m away from home).
kiaiokalewa Posted July 5, 2021 #19 Posted July 5, 2021 Okay, here's what Dave is talking about. Authentic 1st Cavalry Mechanized vs. the reproductions aka: FAKES!!! ALSO NOTE THE DIFFERENCE IN MATERIAL BACK GROUND COLOR SHADE OF ORANGE vs. LIGHT YELLOW.
kiaiokalewa Posted July 5, 2021 #20 Posted July 5, 2021 Here's the whole series that are REPRODUCTIONS
kiaiokalewa Posted July 5, 2021 #21 Posted July 5, 2021 In focus REPRODUCTION of 4th Medical Troop. The authentic and worn examples were the aka: "Waffle" weaved pattern. The 47th Engineer Squadron patch is shown here as an example of this pattern style.
kiaiokalewa Posted July 5, 2021 #22 Posted July 5, 2021 What came first "the Chicken or the Egg"? The 68th FA Mech wore numeral vs. non-numeraled Shoulder Insignia but why? Obviously, they were not manufactured at the same time but it's likely the numerals came at a later date and possibly for demonstration reasons while conducting formal exhibitions. Another key observation that can be readily made is that the numeraled Shoulder Insignia have "Fatty" cannons where the non-numeral examples are skinny canons.
kiaiokalewa Posted July 22, 2021 #23 Posted July 22, 2021 Corps patches are tough to find especially the Organized Reserve ones. Would love to get my grubby hands on one of these. XI and XII Corps uniforms in the collection. Close up on the XI Corps patch.
BILL THE PATCH Posted July 22, 2021 #24 Posted July 22, 2021 I lovee those interwar patches. That old 19th corp , (Spanish mission bell) is out of this world. Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk
kiaiokalewa Posted August 4, 2021 #25 Posted August 4, 2021 The interwar arena is turning into a zoo out there. Personally, I wouldn't touch any of these with a ten foot pole.
