Hi!

Can someone explain to me what form of equipment an average marine rifleman would carry during the battle of fallujah? I guess my question includes knowing details  such as canteen covers, packs, and pouches. Hope I can be enlightened!

Hey! Im not an expert but I believe I can help you out just a bit. I collect some items from that time period.

During this time the corps was just introducing the coyote browm gear and Marpat while still using existing m81 woodland and Tri color dcu’s. A standard marine rifleman would’ve carried either a m81 woodland or coyote brown Modular tactical vest(mtv) with either color of the collar and groin protector aswell. I’ve owned a couple of mtv’s with mixed components. You can also see marines wearing m81 woodland LBV’s over their MTV’s to carry equipment.
As for gear I’ve noticed that it’s more common to have mostly m81 woodland pouches and a coyote brown IFAK. The standard rifle pouch used was the double m16a2 mag pouch in m81. 79F4CBA7-13AA-46AF-AF9E-182801130D44.png.ed437543256530c3ca637b73bfa7282c.pngThey also carried a couple of molle II frag grenade pouches also in m81.CE11F5EA-1B1E-4FD6-B494-371426EC4482.jpeg.8344c1f6a3689eac96c57dccc18495cf.jpegThey also carried a camelbak that I’ve seen in a variety of colors. Mainly all black, OD green, and m81.EC3C5D7D-CA4C-465D-9FAF-B6AE954F3E04.jpeg.d9ec0423c53f5d0bda8a4c864e670d42.jpegI also believe it might’ve been standard protocol to wear their gas mask bags on their left hips. I apologize if this reply is alittle all over the place as its late while I write this. I hope this helps a bit and maybe I can share more info. The pictures provided are from eBay
