That's May 1962 production. It's a very nice suit.

Thanks @ Owen. Haven't seen the patrol caps in tan before - that's why we love USMF. Also be great to see a pyjama thread at some point. Just asking 😀

If it was 1959 dated then yes as it stands the set was already in production for 4 years.

Had this comment on another site.

Shirt - is VNMC first pattern - 1961 pattern print - 1962 dated

Pants - is Early Classic/JSV pattern - 1962 pattern print - stamp unknown

Both garments used the same shiny smooth "poplin-like" fabric.

Same fabric like the first run of ARVN Windproof/Huyet pattern.

You don’t know what “FRS” pattern is?  For shame...

Actually, For Real Shame...  That is what “FRS” means - at least how I just used it.

It a FRS that I didn’t find these Tigers at a show.

Glad I could teach you something.

I now understand why the shirt and trousers of Doyler's excellent suit is in two slightly different prints. The 'normal' early 60s VNMC prints has the large black hook/wave in the design - as seen on the back of the shirt.

The print of the trousers is different, it does not have the hook feature. (Thanks to @gimp for sharing some pictures of Japanese ground defence force issue tiger stripe from the early 1960s), this is the Japanese military issue print. I have had one set and one shirt in this print.

Clearly production would be going on simultaneously.

Hi Ron,

Killer set. Well done.

I have a similar set but the stamp’s are reversed in that the trousers are but the shirt is not. I’ll post some pics.

Can you tell me or post pics of how the CF (centre front) placket is constructed? By that I mean is it just folded under and the buttons and buttonsholes applied like most Tiger shirts or is it constructed with separate pieces at the top where the CF placket lays open at the collar? Mine is a 2 piece construction like that.

Cheers,

Matt
