My Small Collection of Jump Wings

Recommended Posts

After recently getting the Angus & Coote wings I decided to take a group photo of the 5 jump wings I have. I don't specifically look for jump wings or airborne items, I just picked these up along the way. The 4 full size wings are from the WWII and Korean War era. I don't know how old the miniature Meyer wings are. I guess they could be from the 1950's. I haven't seen another example. Not a big collection of jump wings compared to some people here but worth showing I guess.

Looks to me that you are off to a great start with your jump wing collection. Every collection has a beginning. The "flying R" hallmark is for the Robbins Company if you don't already know. That is a nice wing. The other sterling marked wings are what most collectors call 'graduation wings' since they were most likely issued during graduation from jump school. There are many different examples of wings only marked STERLING with no maker hallmark. Those wings you have represent a lot of US Airborne history from 1941 continuing to the present day.  So good luck and best wishes for an starting enjoyable hobby. Check out this forum for jump wing comparisons and lessons learned.
