Found this in a bargain box 'o knives.

Sorry about the quality of the photos but I only have a cell phone camera,

Looks like a name or number stamped into the fuller.

There were also 2 Marble's Woodcraft knives in the "junk" box, 1 pre-war, 1 post war.

Yes, indeed, that blade is what collectors refer to as the "Baby Shark Knife".   I can't remember what Western called it and don't have my materials handy right now to check.

 

This is what they looked like when brand new.

I think during the war years Western was listing it as a G46-5.  Later the designation for that knife would have been L46 for the leather handle or W46 for one with a wood handle.

If for some reason a different handle material was chosen Western had a designation for those too.  After the company became part of the Coleman Corp. The old stock number coding wasn't always followed so closely.  The "-5" in the above was for the length of the blade.
