Hello,

Could someone confirm this is a ww2 US Navy Pilot's survival Knife ?

Is "G.R.Mich" one of the manufacturers at that time ?

Thank you. P.A

It was US Army Air Forces issue. The Colonial Navy version had a bail and came in a canvas pouch. Knives were in service from 1944 to the early 60's. United was one of the three manufactures. The other manufacturer was Colonial and there was an unmarked version.

What a great collection you have 😉

I imagine there is no way to date it ?

I believe they were just made during the war but I am not sure. United sold surplus knives after the war as shown in this May1946 Field & Stream ad.

  • 2 months later...

This really doesn’t add much but my dad was in the air force in the fifty’s in Korea   He brought one home and I remember playing with it as a young child in the early 60’s  Don’t know who the manufacturer was
