Squale69 Posted March 25, 2021 Share #1 Posted March 25, 2021 Hello, Could someone confirm this is a ww2 US Navy Pilot's survival Knife ? Is "G.R.Mich" one of the manufacturers at that time ? Thank you. P.A
mikedon Posted March 25, 2021 Share #2 Posted March 25, 2021 It was US Army Air Forces issue. The Colonial Navy version had a bail and came in a canvas pouch. Knives were in service from 1944 to the early 60's. United was one of the three manufactures. The other manufacturer was Colonial and there was an unmarked version. Squale69 Posted March 25, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted March 25, 2021 Thanks for the feedback ! What a great collection you have 😉 I imagine there is no way to date it ?
mikedon Posted March 25, 2021 Share #4 Posted March 25, 2021 I believe they were just made during the war but I am not sure. United sold surplus knives after the war as shown in this May1946 Field & Stream ad.
Kevin11b Posted May 29, 2021 Share #5 Posted May 29, 2021 This really doesn’t add much but my dad was in the air force in the fifty’s in Korea He brought one home and I remember playing with it as a young child in the early 60’s Don’t know who the manufacturer was
