Guest P.Randy Posted March 19, 2021 #1 Posted March 19, 2021 Can you help me out with this insignia...during WWII the USAAF had the rank of Flight Officer, an equivalent rank to the Army Ground Forces Warrant Officer (Junior Grade) with the exception of blue enamel (FO) instead of brown enamel (WOJG). However, these insignia are apparently in the style of the Army Ground Forces Chief Warrant Officer except in the USAAF blue enamel....however there was never such a rank...can you help identify these...perhaps a proposed but never adopted rank or insignia. Thank you/P.Randy
Justin B. Posted March 19, 2021 #2 Posted March 19, 2021 As you say, insignia like these were never authorized. Nor proposed as far as I know, promotion of FO was to commissioned rank. I'd guess a manufacturer's error involving switching between the two enamel colors.
