johnny12550 Posted March 17, 2021 Share #1 Posted March 17, 2021 Hi, This is a short sword scabbard that I have seen before, but now I can’t find a pic of it on the internet. I can’t remember if it was associated with a Militia sword or a sword from the theatre. It is a heavy robust scabbard meant for a serious sword. I don’t think it’s a theater prop, but I’m probably wrong. If anyone can identify it I would appreciate it. Thanks
daniel griffin Posted March 20, 2021 Share #2 Posted March 20, 2021 To me, it looks fraternal.
johnny12550 Posted March 20, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted March 20, 2021 I was thinking it could be fraternal, but almost everything I have seen in fraternal swords have been the long straight blade type. The short swords tend to be more for the military. I have seen theater swords trying to mimic Roman swords, etc... but they are flimsy theater prop type items. I have seen this type of scabbard and I believe it was either militia of possibly European for a military short sword of the 1860 or 70s. It was so long ago that I can’t remember what it was.
