wartimecollectables.com Posted March 17, 2021 Share #1 Posted March 17, 2021 Just musing... This Confederate Veteran Association of Kentucky badge is named to J.D. Bryant. Bryant served in Morgan's 2nd Kentucky Cavalry and was with them in the October 1862 engagement near Lexington when Morgan captured a detachment of the 3rd Ohio Cavalry. This Ohio Civil War Service medal is named to Christopher Slaven. Slaven rode with the 3rd Ohio Cavalry and was captured by Morgan's Cavalry in the October 1862 engagement near Lexington. It is within reason to believe that the two men met on that battlefield! FYI Slaven was exchanged several months later, returned to his unit and killed in action in 1864. cylekostello Posted March 17, 2021 Share #2 Posted March 17, 2021 I love that Kentucky Vets. Assoc. badge! Great research on the two recipients as well. Haven't seen many posthumous Ohio medals
