This monument was dedicated by the United Daughters of the Confederacy in 1912.  It took the local ladies almost ten years to get the funds to build it.  It sat on the south side of the courthouse for 109 years.  Sadly it was removed about a month ago in the name of political correctness. The local people were not allowed a voice and the vote was held very quickly.  Just sad.

Typical of all over the United States. Removing history from the class room and erasing and rewriting history. All over the south it continues. Richmond monuments have been destroyed, over a thousand coats of paint and slurs written everywhere. In Dallas, TX the city council did the same, voted behind everyone's back and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars that they did not have to have them removed overnight. Sadly groups are rewriting history as we speak. for political correctness. Jamestown was settled in 1607 but not according to the new historical revisions. History cant be changed, it is what it is. We live with it and learn from mistakes. Congress declared Confederate soldiers American Veterans of war in the 1950s.  But I'm sure most don't know it. What's next....this is a sad time in our times.
