Keith Posted March 14, 2021 Share #1 Posted March 14, 2021 Picked up this locally. It looks good to me, but I am far from expert on these. It came without a nut and washer and none of the available nuts I have fit. The threads on this EGA are coarser than the others I have. Is the thread pitch a manufacturers option or is it a date thing. I will appreciate all you can tell me about this piece. Thanks, keith
Brig Posted March 15, 2021 Share #2 Posted March 15, 2021 Looks fine...1943-43 is the period the dual hallmark was used Seems like those two bronze spots on the rear were intentionally made by removing the finish with solvent for some unknown reason
Keith Posted March 15, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted March 15, 2021 Thanks Brig for the reply. I wonder about those spots also. Someone could have cleaned it looking for the hallmark. Or, it could have been mounted in a display and those spots were caused by mounting adhesive. Since there is no nut with it the display idea may be the case....? They spots don't look like they would be a wear point. Thanks for dating it. Is this an Officer's or Enlisted badge? Regards.
jasonc Posted March 15, 2021 Share #4 Posted March 15, 2021 That is an officer's emblem. The applied continents and separate wire rope are dead giveaways.
