Snake on black unit patch to ID: 369th Infantry Regiment

Just picked up this 4th Cav. uniform from the family- any idea what unit the snake is from? 

That was one I never saw before.

Are you sure he was 4th Cav? From years of research I’ve never seen a patch on a border uniform and that does look like the early 369th patch

Agree with other comments about the SSI, but it does seem poorly placed on the shoulder. Also the 369th was a black unit and the 4th was white.

 

Soldier has 4 overseas service chevrons representing 24 months.

 

No campaign bars on the Victory Medal, would have expected some or at least "FRANCE"

 

What was the Soldier's name? A check of the transport lists might reveal his unit.

It is a 369th Regiment patch - often faked, but this is one of the original variations.
