Observer wing Air gunner added then removed?

I see this wing and the face looks rough. Has a gunners emblem been added then removed?

It sure looks like it's been tampered with.  The circle shows some rough marks where it looks like someone pried something off of it and then the leftover residue in the center of the circle.  An Amcraft pattern observer should look like this Amcraft Pattern Observer badge on my site.  I've seen a few of these over the years where someone takes an air crew wing or a gunner wing and modifies it to become an observer wing to try to get more money for it.  It usually doesn't turn out looking very nice or well done.
