24th_infantry Posted March 9, 2021 Share #1 Posted March 9, 2021 A few years ago I purchased a huge group of uniforms from the daughter of a WWII WAVES. Her mother trained navy cadets and officers in link trainers in Pensacola. She ended up meeting her husband on the base, he was a navy mechanic who worked on the link trainers. Two weeks ago I invited the daughter to attend a Zoom military presentation. She ended up donating another one of her mother's uniform and 4 link trainer log books. The books date from 1943 to 1945. There are over 300 people she trained, including a number from the UK. I would like to research all these people and maybe find them or at least their surviving family members. I hope you all enjoy! Let me know if you want to see more photos.
Old Crow 1986 Posted March 9, 2021 Share #2 Posted March 9, 2021 Great grouping with a great backstory. Sounds like quite the project you're taking on, but certainly worthwhile. Please keep us posted and thanks for sharing this.
Dave T Posted March 9, 2021 Share #3 Posted March 9, 2021 24th, please excuse my ignorance, what is a "Link Trainer"? Also is this the only post you have made on the group or is there another pertaining to the larger uniform grouping? Thanks for posting and good luck with the research project. Here is a link to an article about link trainers. They are flight simulators. Pretty much it was a small replica of a navy fighter/torpedo bomber. https://www.nasflmuseum.com/link-trainer.html
