NebrPatch Posted March 8, 2021 Share #1 Posted March 8, 2021 When the 348th Engineer. Combat Bn. was in Germany at the end of WW2, my father and a few of other members of the battalion arranged to have to have the original 348th DUI's produced in Germany, which is the insignia show below. Today we opened a cabinet for the first time in about 15 years and found an insignia featuring a ram's head that I'd forgotten was there and I don't know anything about it. It's made of plastic, hand painted, and has a diameter of about 22 mm. There's a hole in the back for what looks like an upholstery tack; there's no writing or makers mark on the back. I'm sure the pin is 348th-related, dad was working on artwork featuring a ram's head even for the 348th veteran's association after the war. It might be a long shot, but just by looking at the attached photos, is it possible to tell the age of the insignia and where it was made (Germany or the US)? I'm really hoping someone can verify that it was made in Germany. The back with the pin... and without... Thanks, Tom
NebrPatch Posted March 13, 2021 Author Share #2 Posted March 13, 2021 I spoke with a couple of the DUI guys at the Hastings show today, they agreed that it was an unofficial pin, produced in Germany. Tom
