gunnertwo Posted March 4, 2021 Share #2 Posted March 4, 2021 Judging by the citation he should have rated a higher award. I wonder if he received one from the UK? Nice piece! G2
emccomas Posted March 5, 2021 Share #3 Posted March 5, 2021 Fascinating. I am reading Winston S. Churchill's 6 volume History of World War II, and I just finished the section about the Allied armies in nothern Italy. Many British units were attached to American forces. ItemCo16527 Posted March 6, 2021 Share #4 Posted March 6, 2021 This is a really cool and interesting award! He's listed in the London Gazette in August 1944 as having been Mentioned In Despatches which would grant him a bronze oak leaf to wear on his War Medal ribbon. I don't see any other award listings for him though. Note I'm on mobile so it's a bit difficult to use the Gazette Archives site. You'd think he'd have rated at least a Silver Star for this action.
