5000 of these first flight covers were flown as a fund raiser by the Air Transport Command. The trip was  23,279 miles in 149H 44M. The Globester was designed to transport the military, but had a fare of $2841.00 (or $2431.00 sources differ) plus 15% tax for a civilian traveling in the National Interest. The round-the-world part of the weekly Globester flights was discontinued by the ATC on May 22, 1946.
