Aircraft Industrial Service pin. What is it?

I have has this small pin for years but never knew what it was for.  It’s a small lapel size pin and it’s numbered.  The US button is just there for scale.

Was this a civilian procurement service?  Any idea on when this would have been used?

Basically what it denotes, recognition for those men and women in the aircraft production industry during the war “doing their part” so to speak.
