Yancy Irwin Posted February 18, 2021 Share #1 Posted February 18, 2021 I picked this up yesterday in South Carolina....assistant driver seat from a Sherman tank....this guy I bought it from works at a scrapyard and said he found this in a trailer at the scrapyard, the owner of the yard said someone back in the day had scrapped what was left of a Sherman tank and he took a few things off it...he said seats and heavy duty tow chain from what he could remember...I have no idea if that part isn’t true or not but either way this guy bolted it to a wheel and was using in his workshop as a stool... huntssurplus Posted February 18, 2021 Share #2 Posted February 18, 2021 Huh, nice find. Now you just need the rest of the tank! DId he have any other parts you were able to grab?
collectsmedals Posted February 18, 2021 Share #3 Posted February 18, 2021 That is really cool. I will have to see if I can find one, take it in and use it at my desk at work!

Yancy Irwin Posted February 18, 2021 Author Share #5 Posted February 18, 2021 Sadly that was it...he said he just saw the seat, no other parts...that was the second question I asked after “were did you find that!”
Old Marine Posted February 18, 2021 Share #6 Posted February 18, 2021 I like how the seat is mounted on the tire. That’s a nice piece of furniture.
Persian Gulf Command Posted February 18, 2021 Share #7 Posted February 18, 2021 This reminded me of an old M.A.S.H. episode where Radar was sending home a complete Jeep one part at a time. The seat is great as it is and a wonderful addition to an armored enthusiast's collection.
Brian Keith Posted February 19, 2021 Share #8 Posted February 19, 2021 Really cool find Yancy! Excellent save. But, it hurts a bit to think of that tank being scrapped. The seat was probably painted white originally I think. I have some original WW II armored vehicle seat belts if you want to trick it out. PM me. Blacksmith Posted February 20, 2021 Share #11 Posted February 20, 2021 Doesn’t get much cooler than that.
Radio Operator Posted February 20, 2021 Share #12 Posted February 20, 2021 I think this is the first time I have ever seen a seat from a Sherman, don't think you can get a cooler chair than that.
