cagedfalcon Posted February 14, 2021 Share #1 Posted February 14, 2021 This came in a grouping of other items. Came home & never really looked at it until now. According to the "rough" chart on schlueter helmets, heat lots start at 10A & no sign of an 05. What do I have? Thanks Paul I know, don't use chalk but eyes aren't what they use to be. shadawg Posted February 14, 2021 Share #2 Posted February 14, 2021 as the chart is entirely built by collectors, it will of course be incomplete, but it would appear ya got yourself a real early produced schlueter. evidence where the original fixed loops are apparent under the welds of the later added swivel loops. it is also entirely possible that there could have been a light stamp on a first digit, but the depth of the whole stamping looks like it is a true 05A
sgtdorango Posted February 15, 2021 Share #3 Posted February 15, 2021 Nice looking pot, i dont think anyone has a problem with using chalk like that, its when people sand off paint to see numbers that collectors frown upon👍🏻....mike
gap Posted February 15, 2021 Share #4 Posted February 15, 2021 Wouldn’t it just be 5A rather than 05A ?
shadawg Posted February 15, 2021 Share #5 Posted February 15, 2021 2 hours ago, gap said: Wouldn’t it just be 5A rather than 05A ? you would think, if they were numbered like the early mccord kelly helmets. potentially schlueter didnt want a blank die, or maybe for good clarity in two digit codes. kinda a mystery as the lowest ive personally seen was in the 30's as far as lot
cagedfalcon Posted February 15, 2021 Author Share #6 Posted February 15, 2021 Thanks for the comments. It been sitting in a WW1 duffle since August last year. This may be part of a small CBI grouping I purchased but it also contained VN era items, probably belonged to the son.I've been trying to contact him again but won't return calls.Until he says stop...I'll keep trying.Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
