mach1derful Posted February 13, 2021 Share #1 Posted February 13, 2021 When your kids can’t make up their mind on what to eat for lunch but they have started to show an interest in history and “all dad’s weird army stuff”: feed ‘em K rations. A 1/2 can of corn beef hash, some pre-made Nabisco biscuits, sugar cubes, malt tablets, fudge, and cocoa powder (instead of soluble coffee)! bbmilitaria Posted February 13, 2021 Share #2 Posted February 13, 2021 That's great. Is that a look of hesitant anticipation?
thorin6 Posted February 14, 2021 Share #3 Posted February 14, 2021 When I was young (it was a while back) my Dad, a WW2 veteran, would occasionally serve the family corn beef hash and Spam. I remember eating an original K Ration in the 50s as well, and getting chocolates and candy from some old rations. Never remember any of it after 1958 or so. That's him as my avatar. m4s88 Posted April 6, 2021 Share #4 Posted April 6, 2021 What a great idea! I remember when i was a kid my neighbors mom had an older son that was in the army. When we were young she would make "MRE's" for us drawing on brown paper bags. It wasnt even close BUT the idea was fun and we loved pretending. If i only knew how bad they were back then i may not have ever joined haha!
