I found these pictures on Ancestry while researching a distant cousin of mine, Chief Fire Controlman David Demarest. The ship in question is the USS Sigsbee (DD-502), and I believe the photos were taken sometime in 1945 or 1946. It looks like they added a Purple Heart ribbon. I'm guessing it's for the ship having been "wounded" by Japanese attacks. But, who knows? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
