khakiweb Posted February 10, 2021 Share #1 Posted February 10, 2021 Would anyone have any idea about the writing / markings on this 11th Airborne helmet liner? The large letters on top read “Helmot 6” and “Grup 6” (obviously written by someone struggling with literacy); and the cross and block designs readily visible on the back are also on the front, though not as prominent. Burning Hazard Posted February 10, 2021 Share #2 Posted February 10, 2021 Yes, that is an 11th Airborne Liner - WWII manufactured Westinghouse with cast buckles. I Think the markings may be late WWII applied. Looks like a kiddie took a marker to the liner after it was surplused... Here are some some photos of same 11 A/B markings but on helmets.
