WASP Wing - Josten - Any Chance of being good?

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

Yes, I know the pictures are poor - probably on purpose.  Just curious if they stand any chance of being legit.  From what I could see in comparison with other examples, the cut of the feathers in the yellow boxes don't look consistent with known accepted versions.

All opinions are welcome.

Thank you,

Eric

This is my wing. I was given this wing from the brother of a WASP who was killed in a military aircraft crash in 1944.  Given that, this is real deal. The one thing I have noticed on all original WASP wings that I find to be a common trait on all original wings I have seen on line is this. Look at the "N" on sterling. See that low N up right next to the G? Look at that first then look at the other details.

Thank you for pointing out the "N" flaw - that is an easy one to spot.  The features on the one I posted look a bit "soft".  Either it was highly polished at some point, or I'm guessing it was a die cast copy.  I don't have it "in hand" and can't quite tell.  If I get better pictures, I will post them.

Regards,

Eric
