Dogsbody Posted February 10, 2021 Share #6 Posted February 10, 2021 The only vintage sweets I have are rations related but I would love to see some commercially available war time sweets.

jerry_k Posted February 10, 2021 Author Share #8 Posted February 10, 2021 Thanks for contributions guys. These Ration D Hershey's are very nice! Dogsbody - nice Asstored Charms. It is interesting about evolution of package from early war to late: Later war made from different materials wrapper Regards, Jerry

Hi Jerry, here's a couple out of my collection, sadly the internal ingredients are ' melting ' away, I wrapped them in see-through kitchen wrap to try and preserve them but they have continued to disintegrate. Thankfully I caught photos of the wrappers in time to record them. regards lewis. . . . . .

Besides the silver wrapper it has the 1944 beige outer wrapper but underneath that it has a colourful wrapper which I believe to be of post war and Korean war era. Why it was done I don't know. Maybe to pas it off as a WW2 example? Until I know for sure I'll leave the beige wrapper intact. 1947 and onwards
jerry_k Posted February 11, 2021 Author Share #16 Posted February 11, 2021 Nice examples Ken, I like the MARS! Probably it is reason why not so many survived in 70+ years :( Dogsbody - that is interesting. WW2 examples are in tan paper wrap. Maybe this was repacked after the war also... regards, Jerry
