Using a blacklight to look at M1 Helmets.

Has anyone used a blacklight to look at their helmets ?

I bought a Rayovac Blacklight flashlight today at Walbucket

and tonight I shone it on a MP helmet that I have.

The helmet is solid green with 501st MP stickers on the side.

When I put the blacklight on the front, I could see an MP logo under the green paint. Not visible in

normal light. Id never seen it before.

Has anyone else found anything under the paint on their helmets using a blacklight?

Seems to work really well.

Heres a shot of the helmet in the light and heres a short video. You will

be able to make out the MP faintly but the Camera does not capture it so good. To the eye its really clear

and it stands out.

This is the best I could get with the camera.

I wish I could capture how it looks with the camera.

I showed my Son today and he could see no hint of the MP logo in the light.

You really cant see any bumped up paint edges or anything in bright light.

I had no idea it was there.

I cut the light off and hit it with the black light and my Son saw it plain as day.

Weird !

I also shinned the blacklight at my 8 U.S.M.C Michell Helmet covers .....1959 with the tag.

One of the covers, one of the worst ones... fluoresces, tag stitching and all.

Not sure why ?

This is interesting. What prompted you to want to use a blacklight?

I bought a cheap handheld blacklight and was walking around the house shinning it on the carpets..

etc and I happened to shine it across the shelf where my helmets are and I saw the MP

glowing on the front of the helmet. You cannot see it at all without the black light.

But its there sure enough with the blacklight on it.

Ah, not for specific use on helmets.
