carrabassett Posted February 2, 2021 Share #1 Posted February 2, 2021 I saw this in a shop and was hoping for some opinions. It appears to be a rear seam, swivel bail US M1 helmet but I couldn’t make out a heat stamp number. It looks like a recent spray paint camo job to me but I’m no expert and was wondering if it’s worth buying and if so, how much would it be worth? Thanks for any help or advice. dmar836 Posted February 2, 2021 Share #2 Posted February 2, 2021 What's the tag say? I guess you just have to ask what you would give/gave for a late model M-1 shell without straps or liner and with a DIY paint job? I'd probably walk by for more than $20. But then again, even at $20, what would I do with it anyway? Repaint it better? Others might see great value to it though.
carrabassett Posted February 2, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted February 2, 2021 Ya, I’m with you. I just didn’t know if it was some “known” or well recognized camo scheme that I’d be passing up and then regretting. I did pass at $25 but was just wondering. Thanks for your opinion. dmar836 Posted February 2, 2021 Share #4 Posted February 2, 2021 I actually like the way the spray is muted a bit but doesn't increase the value IMO.
manayunkman Posted February 3, 2021 Share #5 Posted February 3, 2021 Looks like a Vietnam era piece that has several paint jobs. The dent with fresh paint in it would cause some to worry about it.
huntssurplus Posted February 3, 2021 Share #6 Posted February 3, 2021 Definitely a recent paint job. Not any older then a couple years IMO. Hunt
