Here is my B-7 (AN-6512) parachute rig. I purchased an original B-7 harness and sent it off Joshua DeJong at  theriggerdepot.com to have it “repacked”. Joshua completed the rig for me minus a canopy and I am quite happy with the result.

The B-7 utilized the 24 foot canopy and was standardized on 01OCT1940. The more comfortable B-8 “replaced” the B-7 when it was standardized in late 1942, but the B-7 continued to be used.

I have combed through the posts here searching for content related to the B-7 parachute but have found very little. I’d really like to see photos of them in use, but they also seem scarce.

So, was the chute already removed?

Correct. The harness is original. The rest was built by Joshua DeJong. The pack has a foam filler inside which can be removed in the future and replaced with a canopy.

I think the movie target for today on youtube shows a B-24 crew climbing in a crew truck, throwing in a B-7...there were many QACs and a few B8s...been awhile since I watched the movie..

This photo was taken in March 1942 in Australia with a B-7 being worn.

I actually had an original B-7 harness and bag. The chute was removed sadly, one i wish i had never sold! I was surprised to see these in theater use! I was under the impression that they were only training and or stateside use.

Grabbed this screen shot from Memphis Belle in Color from the Smithsonian Channel the other day. There are two crew members with B-7’s in this shot.
