hillbilly Posted January 31, 2021 Share #1 Posted January 31, 2021 Is this an edged weapon from back in the day, or a corn cutter from the 1930s? Hefty , thick in the middle & tapered to both edges to form a double edged blade. The sketch is just what it may have looked like before it broke and was entombed in soil. Oh, It was found in WV, close to F&I War & CW activity. Thanks for any ideas.
Jim Morris Posted February 6, 2021 Share #2 Posted February 6, 2021 Based on the angle of the tang in relation to the blade, it looks similar to a Nathan Starr 1812 cavalry saber. There are a number of other sabers of that period with similar angles between the blade and tang, so it could have been any of them. I am using the Starr simply as an example. hillbilly Posted February 6, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted February 6, 2021 Thanks for the reply. Do you think it could of been made from a full-length sword, or was it made this short?
