Charlie Flick Posted January 31, 2021 Share #1 Posted January 31, 2021 Gentlemen: On another forum I ran across the image below posted by a guy with the handle "SF Vet". It shows him in South Viet Nam. He is the Captain on the left enjoying some coconut milk. He describes the scene this way: Here, were are out on an op, but as you can see, with all the kids standing around, there was no risk or hostile's in the vicinity. I am with the coconut, and my Buck General in front of me. I had a custom sheath for it. [Photo credit to SF Vet] The Model 120 General is still sold by Buck. It has a 7 3/8 ths inch blade. A sturdy and nice looking blade. The photo below is taken from the Buck website. We don't see a whole lot of private purchase knives in contemporary photos of the war in Vietnam. Misfit 45 Posted January 31, 2021 Share #2 Posted January 31, 2021 That's such a great knife. Always loved 'em. Marv
thorin6 Posted January 31, 2021 Share #3 Posted January 31, 2021 Here's an extract from an early Buck catalog, It's my understanding that both the 120 and 119 were carried in Vietnam.
