P-59A Posted February 4, 2021 Share #2 Posted February 4, 2021 Nice flak vest! I posted mine in the aviation section. I added some facts to the post. Check it out when you have time. This is a Wilkinson vest made by the British for the 8th USAAF. The Brits only made 600 of these and you will find a broad arrow stamp in it. carfin lewys Posted February 4, 2021 Author Share #5 Posted February 4, 2021 Hello gentlemen, Thank you for the compliment "Phantomfixer". The drop tank is for a P47 & I find it in a barn next-door. Many of these tanks were converted in little boats by the farmer children after WW2. Best regards from Alsace , France. Carfin.

dmar836 Posted February 25, 2021 Share #12 Posted February 25, 2021 Yep. They are still building them. I could never cut one up but not sure what else I would do with one. If one was already cut up like this I would build a car with it. Same with the bomber O2 tanks. They drill them and polish them for fuel tanks for hot rods. I have one and would never drill it even though I'm building a flat head car.
